PAPAYA – पपीता (5 Seeds)

Time of sowing:
Seeds are sown in second week of July to third week of September and transplanting is done from first week of September to mid-October.

Spacing:
Use plant to plant spacing of 1.5 X 1.5m.

Sowing depth:
1cm deep seeds are sown.

Method of sowing:
Propagation method is used.

Seed rate:
Use 150-200gm seeds for per acre land.

*How to get papaya seeds to sprout (germinate):

1) Soak the seeds: To promote germination, soak papaya seeds in warm water for two to three days.

2) Dry the seeds: Allow the seeds to air dry a little after soaking.

3) Set up the media: Make use of a well-draining medium, such as coco peat, which offers adequate aeration and moisture retention.

4) Plant the seeds: Plant the seeds, being careful not to plant them too deeply, in the prepared medium.

5) Maintain temperature and moisture: Make sure the medium is constantly warm and moist, preferably between 25 and 35°C.

6) Provide sunlight: Although it’s not a necessity, giving the seedlings some sunlight—or artificial light—can aid in their development.

7) Transplant seedlings: The seedlings can be moved to bigger pots or their ultimate planting spot after they have a few leaves.
