Steps to germinate sandalwood seeds:

1. Seed Preparation:

Soaking: Soaking the seeds in water for 24 hours or in a solution with cow dung can enhance germination.

Pre-treatment: Some treatments like soaking in a gibberellic acid solution can also be used.

2. Germination Conditions:

Temperature: Sandalwood seeds need a warm environment for germination.

Light: While not requiring direct sunlight, they need bright, indirect light during germination.

Soil: Well-drained soil is crucial, with sandy or loamy soil being preferred.

3. Sowing and Aftercare:

Sowing: Spread the seeds on a prepared nursery bed and sprinkle water twice a day.

Covering: Cover the seedbed with straw to protect the seeds and seedlings.

Transplanting: Once the seedlings have 2 to 4 leaves, transplant them into polythene bags.

4. Germination Time:

Germination usually begins within 25 days and can continue for several weeks.

The seeds will start to sprout within 4 to 8 weeks.
